Soccer, Glasses and Sickies

This beautiful day just turned dreary, but I'll admit that I love the impending Fall. I love the coolness it brings, pumpkins and apples and just the change of seasons. Even on dreary days I love it. :) We had a busy weekend. I worked Friday and Saturday night (as usual), but was extra exhausted yesterday morning. I had to be at church at 8:00 am for a meeting, which meant leaving around 7:40...ugh. We had a combined service with all four of our worshipping communities so that was really nice to see people we don't always get to see. I took a big nap yesterday afternoon, but didn't really feel 100%...thought I was just really, really tired, but instead spent quite a bit of time throwing up last night. Yuck. I think it was more flu related then pregnancy related, but you never know. I feel better today, but not great...hate that.
Moving back to Saturday...Abigail had her first soccer game on Saturday. Her team had only one practice (the other was rained out) so needless to say, it was an amusing morning. By the end Abigail was whining that she was tired and sick of soccer. By that afternoon she told me she wants to play soccer every day! Soccer star that child is not...but she sure looks cute out there!
Last Thursday I took Abigail to the eye doctor. When she had her five-year well child visit she had a vision test. I thought the did terribly, but the nurse (who I wasn't overly impressed with) marked "passed" on her medical form. I asked my dad about it and he confirmed my feelings that she should be checked out further. I brought her to the office I've been going to for twenty years and we were there for 2 1/2 hours. The doctor was great with her (he has small children himself) and concluded that her vision isn't terribly by any means, but it isn't perfect either. She has a little trouble seeing far and at this point, with being in school we would be doing her a disservice by not helping her see better with glasses. She also has a small astigmatism at this point. Plus, with Colin and I both wearing glasses (forever) and most of the other people in our family wearing glasses, it's pretty much inevitable that she'd need them at some point. :) We took home six pairs and here are the ones she decided on...she's proud of them and looks pretty dang cute I think! Those are just the trial frames, we plan to order her's today.

We have another busy week...no school today, which is kind of nice to relax on Mondays. More later...

Your daughter is adorable (as is your son). Hope you are feeling better- not too encouraging for me- I have felt pretty rotten all day-hope it doesn't turn out like yours.
