Henry's Surgery

Thanks for all the well-wishes for Henry! The surgery went well and he's completely recovered. We were at the hospital at 7:15 and at 7:45 they gave him his medicine. About 10 minutes later he was hilarious. VERY loopy and kept falling in the crib. He also played with his mask for like five minutes telling me it was a boat and trying to put his pacifier in the whole on the top. Very funny. He was okay with leaving me and then the surgery was all of 10-15 minutes. He came back to me screaming. He was really, really angry...did not wake up happy at all. By angry I mean (sorry about the crude language) he was freakin' pissed. He was kicking, biting, screaming, hitting and throwing things. He chucked his paci across the room and then they brought him a popsicle in a cup. He destroyed the cup in like 2 seconds...he was furious. In the middle of this my mom came to get Abigail (THANK YOU, MOM!) which was wonderful because I have no idea how I'd handle two kids alone with Henry like that. He wanted juice so I gave him a juice box. With furious rage he squeezed it with two hands and juice went everywhere. He finally calmed down and we were able to go home. I was exhausted...it was 9:45! :) He's doing fine now...we even left him with a baby-sitter tonight while we met with our small group. Thanks again for the well wishes!

One more thing...for those of you who asked...the clothing sale was at "Mom and Baby...Again." I'll try to post next time I find such a good sale!

Clifford, Dresses and Ears

It's been a week since I've posted - sorry! Lots going on and we've just been so busy! We are still not 100% healthy here, but close! I actually have a sore throat and headache AGAIN today, but I'm taking something right away to try to keep it away!

Today Henry and I went to the library to meet Clifford. He loved it! It was seriously chaotic...tons of people in a not near big enough space. Not the best organized, but luckily we got there early so we had a seat. Henry had a blast going up to Clifford (numerous times) to pet him, give him high-fives and hug him. It was a fun, crazy time!

Abigail wanted her picture taken today in her "wedding dress." I picked this dress up at a Baby Store this week. They have some new, some consignment in their store. They have had their consignment on sale/clearance for the past few weeks marking it more and more down (and lots of it was new stuff with the tags still on!). This Monday and Tuesday they had all their consignment for $1 each. I went the Monday morning and found a few great deals. Last minute I grabbed this dress. It's from David's Bridal and the consignment price was $25...but I paid $1. It's a size 4 and fits her perfectly. It's actually kind of cute...and absolutely perfect for dress up!

This one cracks me up. She said "Mom, take a picture of me doing 'hips and lips.'" Must be something she learned at school! :)

Tomorrow Henry is getting tubes again. It's going to be a busy, crazy morning. I looked back to last time he had them and realized we were there about 2 hours. Colin was with me and Abigail was not. Tomorrow Colin will NOT be with me and Abigail WILL be. Lord help me. :) Colin will be there for a tiny bit at the beginning, but then has to go to school because it's exam time. I'm going to take Abigail's little dvd player/tv and hopefully that will keep her busy. I'm a little concerned about being the primary caregiver when they are trying to sedate a 35+ pounds strong as heck boy, but I'll just have the nurses take over if all else fails. "

I'm hopeful that this surgery will help with his hearing. As I said before the fluid is probably the reason he failed the hearing test, but there's still that tiny part of me that has to worry a bit. He'll be retested in a couple weeks, so hopefully all will be good!

--------------------------------------------------------------

I order this adorable picture off Etsy and am excited to get it! I'm not sure if it'll go in Abigail's room or possible in our bathroom if it isn't too girly, cutesy. There are some great pictures in this shop - so cute!

The rest of the week is busy. We have small group tomorrow night, Friday night I work, Saturday Colin works and I work at night and then it's Sunday. Busy, busy! I hope to do something fun with the kids on Friday during the day...not sure what yet, but hopefully something! :)

Enjoy the rest of your week!

I Heart Amoxicillin

What a difference 24 hours on Amoxicillin has made! My throat feels soooo much better! I literally felt like dying there for a bit. :) I still have the cough, somewhat sore throat and congestion, but it's so much better! Yeah!!
Here are some pictures from yesterday. Our Little Hands group went to a Sheep farm (owned by one of the mom's parents) and saw all the baby lambs. They had around 35-40 of them! So cute! They were very friendly and the kids loved them. Henry just went right in there and was lovin' it...he kept feeding them corn and wanted to pet them all. We also saw a (not-so-nice) cow and some chickens. We then went to their little log cabin and had lamb cookies and the milk. What a fun day!

Strep

I couldn't stand it anymore so I called the doctor this morning. I just got back from my appointment and it's confirmed...I have Strep. I went to pick up my prescription and it wasn't ready...I HATE THAT! So...instead I'm having a pity party for myself...eating lasagna, drinking Coke and watching my soap while the kids nap and have quiet time. Love it!

I'll have some pictures later. We went to a sheep farm with Little Hands this morning...so fun!

It's been a week...

What a week...
We have been so sick over here! This flu that has been going around is rotten! I was feeling just fine last Wednesday and then started coughing a bit at night, but nothing big. Oh my, by Thursday night I thought I was going to die! This has knocked me out like crazy! On Saturday night I was the worst I've been...just miserable. I fell asleep at about 9:15...and woke up at 3:15 on Sunday afternoon. Yes, I slept 18 hours. It was wonderful. I feel about 50% now...but definitely on the mend...thank goodness! Abigail has been battling fatigue and a fever, but was much better today. It was nice to have Colin home (again!) to help out some more with the kids.

I hope everyone reading this is feeling okay - it's a nasty bug going around!

More later...

When Dad's at work...

We play! Henry had Little Hands today and we celebrated Valentine's Day. He loves doing his crafts there!

Tonight we did a craft or "crap" as Abigail calls it. Henry made cards for all of his speech teachers and Abigail signed all of her Valentine cards. She had to sign 19 and was getting sick of it and then I bribed her...one smartie for every one she signed. Worked like a charm!

Happy Valentine's Day from Mr. GQ and Miss Priss!

Valentine's Gifts

I finally have all the Valentine Treats finished and ready for distributing! Yeah! We made this heart crayons for Abigail's class. They were fun to make and turned out cute!

I put them in these little clear bags with a Princess valentine and made bag toppers for them.

I think I showed one of these before, but these are the mailboxes for Abigail's teacher and assistant. I filled them with mini M & Ms that I bought at Target 75% off after Christmas.

The mailboxes probably cost me about $3 each...love that for a cute gift!

Happy Almost 1/2 Birthday, Abigail!

What in the world...that title is silly. Do people really celebrate 1/2 birthdays? What about almost 1/2 birthdays? Abigail's 1/2 birthday is on February 18, but she doesn't have school that day (teacher in-service...um, she hasn't gone a full week in a long time due to snow days, in-service, etc...Colin wants a refund. But I digress). Anyway, they celebrated her 1/2 birthday today at school. I thought about eating 1/2 of each sucker that she brought for her birthday treat, but thought against it. She got a crown and got to take the Birthday Bear and book home for the night.

New York Pictures

As promised...New York pictures. Since there are so many pictures, the descriptions are little...sorry!

The Ferris Wheel in Toys R Us

Ice skating and "meeting" Matt at the "Rock."

St. Patrick's Cathedral...absolutely breath-taking...one of my favorite things we saw.

Eating NY pizza (the first time!)

Our special dinner out in Brooklyn at Peter Luger's Steakhouse...umm, it was amazing! I couldn't even begin to explain it on here, but it was amazing.

At the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Colin standing by a Jackson Pollack painting...it was HUGE! The MoMA was Colin's favorite part of the trip - I loved it too!

Seeing "Starry Night" - wow!

We are big Picasso fans and love this painting.

A small part of Times Square at night.

The Statue of Liberty. Loved what I could do with my zoom lens - thanks, Sue!

Ellis Island...what an experience.

The World Trade Center tribute. This was a very moving exhibit to go through. It was amazing to see all the things they found in the rubble and to read quotes by survivors and families of both survivors and deceased.

Our last dinner was at Serendipity. We took a small table and they brought us their famous Frrrrozen Hot Chocolate on the house...to begin our meal! It was huge and so good!
