Today we had a good day. The kids were great all day! Henry went down for a nap and Abigail had a quiet time this afternoon. Abigail may watch a Veggie Tales movie, read books or play a little during her quiet time. Toward the end of her quiet time I was getting ready for work. She came out of her room with a paper for me. She showed it to me and my heart swelled and tears came to my eyes. She wrote her name. By herself. And it's beautiful! She's been practicing writing letters at school and we've been working on it at home as well. They've done A, B and C at school so far. My mom and I both worked with her a little on Y so she could spell Abby. This was the first day that she did it by herself without help.
God gives my moments like that to remind me that some days are tough, but the rewards of motherhood are amazing. My baby, my little girl, is growing up so fast and it's the most amazing thing to watch.
Here are some pictures. See it? The big purple A, then the tall b, another tall b and then an awesome y? Don't you love the b? Humor me...

Dude, those are awesome Abbys! You're not a dork for being proud of your child. There is some odd rule in the universe that says that kids will be a pain in the butt a lot. But they always come up with something to make your day. The first time my niece recognized me for me, I almost cried. I walked into the room and she said "Shadah!" And I knew the day would not get any better. :)
On another note, I had a weird 8th St. Grille dream last night. I'll go months without thinking of the place, then I'll have a dream that I'm working there and I continually forget which tables are in my section and people are waiting forever.
That is the most profoundly beautiful paper I've seen in a long time. I hope you have a frame for it. Even the composition is good!
God always seems to know when we need a warm fuzzy mama moment... even when Eden has been a pill the majority of the day and caused me to ask forgiveness for snapping, I always am reminded of how precious and short these early years are when I sneak into her room at night... thank you for highlighting both sides of the parenting coin. :)
p.s. I happened to drive past you and Colin on Lawndale yesterday, but I couldn't stop to say hello. So hello!
p.p.s.(SARAH! I have the same dream!)
