Johanna at 20 1/2 months
Johanna is such a ham and so much fun! I don't remember the other two kids being this hilarious and funny at her age. She is sassy, spunky and full of life. She makes the most hilarious faces and I wish I could catch all of them on film! She loves to "read" books. She'll pick up a book, sit on a chair and "read" to me. She babbles like crazy and then starts cracking up at herself. I think it's because one time when she was doing that I was busting out laughing because it was about the cutest thing ever...now she thinks it's part of the routine. I tried to snap a few pictures of her reading the other day. You'll see a sample of some of her faces below. Boy do we love this little crazy girl!

Thanksgiving 2010
Thanksgiving was wonderful this year. As usual we celebrated twice that day. We had a great lunch with my family and then dinner with Colin's family. We truly are blessed and have so much to be thankful for this year!
My mom had the table decorated so pretty for us!
Henry's "main" course...yogurt. He said "Thanksgiving is the worst! It's all the foods I don't like!" He ended up with yogurt, Jello and bread for his dinner.
Abigail on the other hand was in Heaven! Turkey and mashed potatoes...life is good!
So thankful for this little peanut...she sure is a goofball full of funny faces!

Mila's first taste...at 8 months old. Must be okay if a Doctor is giving it to her!
Joshua. If you mention Grandpa to him he says "Cream!"

Johanna's First Haircut
Johanna was starting to get the long hair in the front that was getting harder and harder to manage. I was able to put it in a clip, but that would only last for a short time until she would pull it out. We finally made the decision to cut her hair and give her little bangs. This was the first time for bangs for one of my daughters, but I think they turned out adorable on Johanna. They definitely made her look older!

Halloween 2010
We had a fun Halloween week this year! On October 23rd we went to my sister's house for dinner and then cookie decorating and pumpkin carving. The kids had a blast decorating the cookies and eating all of the candy!
Then we moved on to pumpkin carving. Abigail loved taking the guts out of the pumpkin. Henry did a little bit, but Johanna preferred to snuggle with Grandpa or look at the pumpkin from a distance.
We ended up with a spider in a web, haunted house, elmo and a face. It was such fun!
On the 30th (since Halloween was on Sunday this year) we went trick-or-treating. We started the night by going to Heritage, where my Grandma Northouse had lived. We visited her friend, Sara, who was really special to her.
Abigail was dressed as Nancy Drew...specifically from the book "Nancy Drew and the Wedding Day Disaster."
Henry was Woody from Toy Story.
Johanna was a sweet princess...most of the time.
Except when I wouldn't let her have a tootsie-pop to start off the night.
Next we went over to YoYo and Papa's house for a little more trick-or-treating with the cousins.
And a little "Pumpkin Moonshine" to end the night.

Grandma Northouse
On October 18th we said good-bye to my Grandma Northouse. It was such a difficult time for us. We knew that she was ready, we knew that she was hoping to get to Heaven soon and we knew that it was going to happen any time, but it was and still is hard.
We had a great celebration of her life at the funeral on October 20th. We spent time talking with the kids about death, Heaven and where Grandma is. Abigail came to the funeral with us. She definitely had a tough time, especially since she was so close to Grandma. The highlight of the funeral was when we all said The Lord's Prayer in unison and Abigail was belting it out. It was amazing and I know that Grandma was watching and smiling.
We'll miss you, Grandma. And can't wait to see you soon in Heaven!

| NORTHOUSE (Kuipers) - Mathilda "Mick" Northouse, age 85, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 18, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Northouse and grandson Nathan Alan Northouse. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Rita (Dr. William) VanderVliet, Terri (Dr. Harlan) Byker, Lori (Thomas) Harrington and Kenneth (Cheryl) Northouse; grandchildren, Joel, Bethany, Rebecca, Erin Nichole, Cori, Levi, Kendal, Jesse, Tory, Katie and Alana; great grandchildren, Mila, Abigail, Henry, Johanna Mathilda, Joshua, Luke, Skyler, Summer, Reece, Savannah and Garrit; siblings, Roger (Jean) Kuipers, Pat Bannink and Dale (Beverly) Kuipers; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville (East Building) with Rev. Terry Scholten and Mr. Mel VanderBie officiating. Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville (West Building). Memorial contributions may be made to Christ for the City in support of grand-daughter, Erin Nichole Byker's ministry in Costa Rica.
