Memorial Day 2006

I was just loading pictures from this weekend onto my computer and trying to clean up some old files. While doing that I came across this picture that I used when I wrote a paper a couple of years ago. This is my Grandpa and me probably about 20 or more years ago. He would always joke how he wanted to "count ribs." Then he would torture us with tickling while he pretended to count.

I think about my grandpas often. When I look at my kids I am saddened that they never knew their great-grandpas. I try to tell them about them, but it's hard right now at their age. I think about my grandpas on a day like today and really, really miss them.

Bayshore Marathon 2006

On Saturday (at 7:00 am!!) Colin ran the Bayshore Marathon in Traverse City. We had a lot of fun watching him at different mile markers. It was a little rough getting the kids up early, but once things got going they loved watching Daddy and Uncle Haans run by! Despite some leg cramps around mile 19, Colin finished in 3 hours, 35 minutes! He did awesome!

Mother's Day 2006

Mother's Day was wonderful. Colin and the kids made sure that it was truly my day - it was great! They bought me a bunch of things for the cruise - books, a shirt and a new purse. So nice! Here's a picture of the coasters I made on Adobe Photoshop for my mom - so much fun!
I know they are hard to see, but there is a picture of Abigail with her name, a picture of Henry with his name, both kids with "play" on the ribbon, and my mom with the kids and the metal says "adore" and then "Grandma Rita" is at the bottom. They were so much fun to make! I hope everyone else had a good Mother's Day!

Curiosity

Abigail playing with the neighbor girls, Leah (4 yrs. old) and Tory (3 yrs. old). They discovered an ant hill in the driveway and were in awe watching the ants move about. It was so great to see life through a child's eyes for a few minutes and stop to notice the small things just like they do.
