Apple Picking

A few weeks ago Henry, Johanna and I went to Cranes on a Friday morning to pick apples. We wanted Honeycrisp apples and I knew that Saturday would be nuts (the first Saturday for Honeycrisp picking) so the three of us went for a quick trip. The apples were gorgeous and huge and we had a great time picking a ton of apples (and a big bag of peaches!) in a short time. Then we went for donuts, cider and a piece of pie. I'm really enjoying having some special days like that with Henry (and Johanna!).

Johanna at SIX Months

SO behind on this...life's been crazy. Johanna was 6 months on September 17. She weighed in at 14 pounds, 11 ounces (10-15th percentile) and was 24.75 inches (10-15th percentile). She's still SO happy all the time except when she gets hungry. She's sleeping 11-12 hours at night and likes 2 naps a day, each 1 1/2-3 hours long. We are doing cereal and baby food and she LOVES it (gets so excited about it just like Abigail used to). She's in size 2 diapers when she isn't wearing her Bum Genius. She's in love with Daddy and Henry like crazy...cracks me up! We love this little girl SO much! Taking her pics this month was much more difficult...here's the best we got! :)

What's Happening Around the Mulder House...

School is in full swing, the days are busy, blogging is being neglected...ugh! Here's a quick update...
~Johanna is 6 months old...SIX months! Time is sure flying by! Pictures in her six month onesie to come...hopefully soon.

~My mom is 60 today! SIXTY! Happy Birthday, Mom! She is the youngest, best looking 60 year-old that I know!

~Abigail is doing great in school and loves it! She's having terrible anxiety issues though, mostly related to sleeping and other non-school issues, that we are currently dealing with.

~Henry loves school and informs me that I can drop him off at the curb. I wish I could...it would be easier than luggin Johanna in and out each day!

~Colin picked up three more classes and some lunch duty so he's now 0.8 time at school. We are thankful for that. Of course full-time would be better, but there is always a "better," so right now we are more than thankful for his job and paycheck.

~I had kidney surgery this past Wednesday. They did lythroscopy and a cystoscopy. The short of it is...they blasted a kidney stone with laser and another one with ultrasound. They also put a stent in from my kidney to bladder. The procedure wasn't/isn't painful, but the stent is, so hopefully I will heal soon.

I have no pictures in this post, so I'll leave you with one of my favorites from the summer that never got posted.

Henry

Henry started preschool today. He's in the 4's class three mornings a week. Today was his first day and only an hour long and I went with him. He has the same teacher that Abigail had for 4's and I think she'll be great for him. He has also grown up so much over the summer...he's almost as tall as Abigail, weighs more and has bigger feet...crazy! His speech is much more improved, but he's still taking private speech once a week. I can't wait to see him continue to grow this year...he's such a great kid and I love him tons!

Abigail

Today is a big day at our house. Abigail started first grade. At a new school. Knowing no one in her class. I've been full of anxiety over it since we made this decision last Spring. Abigail's also been full of anxiety. Last night I crawled in her bunk with her, snuggled with her and sang to her while she fell asleep. She had so many questions about today and I just wanted her to quiet down and sleep so she was rested. She was up in the night for probably about 2 hours total, so I'm glad we got her to bed early. We've been having some anxiety struggles with her lately and some days have been really tough. However, every day I look at her and my heart gets tight with all the love I have for her. She's grown up so much in the past year, even just over the Summer. She's not a litle kid anymore, she says "grown-up" things that crack me up, she's smart and she's a joy to be around. I love her so much and will honestly miss her while she's in school every day (but will enjoy my time with Henry and Johanna too!). I can't wait to pick her up today and hear all about her first day!
