A MUCH needed vacation!

We leave tomorrow for New York. We'll probably leave around 11:30 for our afternoon flight from Detroit. That's dependant on the weather of course. It does look like we are almost done with the snow and a lot of it's north of Detroit, so that's good! Hopefully the drive out there is smooth. New York is also looking decent as far as weather goes. Too bad we weren't there today...it was 63 degrees! It is going to be in the mid-upper 40s when we are there though and that's just fine with me!

We need this vacation...it's been a week. Colin is still sick...a good six days now with the respiratory flu and is miserable. We need him to turn a corner and it just isn't happening yet. He may go into the doctor tomorrow morning before we go, but I kind of doubt it. He is weak, coughing, tired and just needs to feel better! Hopefully our get-away will help!

Abigail had pink eye this weekend and I kept her home from school on Monday. Her eyes look terrible still, but the pink eye is gone. They are all red underneath from all her rubbing. Ugh.

Henry went to the ENT this morning for a 4-month check on his ears. His tubes fell out around his second birthday and since then he has had a couple of ear infections. Today there was fluid in his ears, not an infection, but still fluid. His doctor wants to put tubes back in, so he will have those on February 28th. He also had a hearing test done and did not pass with flying colors. His hearing is "a little lower" that we want. Hopefully this is just due to the fluid in his ears and will improve after the tubes. He'll have another hearing test in March, a week after the tubes, so the prayer now is that he clearly passes at that time.

Whew! So, that's the family update. Luckily I have been able to stay healthy through everything (knock on wood!) and am ready to leave tomorrow. We have hardly ever left our kids so I do have some anxiety about that, but it will be so nice to get away and they will have a blast with everyone!

Maybe I'll get a post up from New York...we'll see!

We spent a good hour outside today at my parents' house sledding. The kids had a blast! It was fun for us all! :)

Enough Already

There are a few things I have wanted to blog about and they can all really be started with the phrase "Enough already" so here they are...

Enough already with this snow! As I'm typing it is a white-out. There was school today. I'm guessing because they didn't want to have another snow day. Too bad it's TERRIBLE out there and it's crazy that they didn't cancel it. I feel terrible for my mailman who is currently rocking his truck back and forth trying to get unstuck on my not-yet-plowed street.

Enough already with the people who still have pumpkins out in the weather. Think I'm making this up? I could show you at least 2 houses with pumpkins still out! PUMPKINS! Even Christmas lights should be down by now, but pumpkins for sure! Crazy.

Enough already with people who, when asked at work what they would like to drink, answer "I'll just start with water." Why? Why do people say this? 95% of the time they are starting and ending with water, nothing else. Why say "I'll just start with water" when you have NO intention of ordering anything else. It really drives me nuts...maybe I've waited tables too long.

Enough already with coloring on your feet and face. While I was upstairs getting ready Henry decided that coloring his feet and face red would be fun. Very nice. That's why I spend the extra money to only buy washable markers, crayons, kids, etc.

Randomness

I have a couple of random things to blog about today. It was another freezing cold day here in beautiful Michigan with many, many more inches of snowfall. It's still snowing...another snow day would be awesome! :)

The kids wanted to play outside today so we all bundled up and went outside. We limited it to about twenty minutes since it was only 18 degrees outside. Abigail loved every second, Henry loved most of it. Here are a couple of pictures including Henry after he fell face first in the snow! And yes, my 2 1/2 year old still has a pacifier! :)

I did a fun project last night that I learned about on Emily's blog. She has such fun and creative things! I found these little mailboxes at Target for $1.

I altered them per Emily's instructions and will be filling them with candy and giving them to Abigail's teacher and teacher assistant for Valentine's Day. I also bought like 20 more for our Little Hands group to do for our Valentine's Day party. Here are pictures of the finished product. So fun and pretty easy too!
